This series is an investigation of the effects of living in a nation that champions speed as progressa nation that acts as though instant gratification takes too long. In this race for success, excess is the signifier. Taken over a series of Friday and Saturday nights on the streets of New York (to start), the images provide insight into alcohol-fuelled debauchery in our nations cultural melting pot. This is a project about binge drinking, blacking out, carelessness and waste.
The series is aptly named American Binge, and includes a photo of a man with his pants at his ankles as he triumphantly salutes a table full of empty bottles and plastic party cups. Another captures a girl in a leopard dress trying to cope with the pain of daylight spending the night passed out in a filthy yard.
