http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Nate-Berk"A group of Parsons Fine Arts students were featured on a special live episode of Oprah celebrating the 10th Anniversary of O Magazine. Oprahs design expert Nate Berkus visited the Fine Arts studios at Parsons last week to tape the segment about starting an art collection, which included nine students from the undergraduate and graduate Fine Arts programs. Under the guidance of MFA program director Simone Douglas, the students hung a gallery show in the fourth floor studio and invited Nate and the crew inside to browse the work and the process of buying and selling student art. Berkus left the studio with three new piecesone for a client, two for his personal collection."

Press Release:
It is 2010. We have taken our first few uncertain steps into the new decade of our brand new millennium. Technology continues to advance with eager rapidity and our bodies adapt, morphing into new organisms equipped with new ways to connect. We have new ways to look at each other, lust for each other, flirt with each other, touch each othervirtually and actually. Now, more than ever, we are given the permission to watch. Watch strangers, watch us.
At this moment the discourse surrounding sex is an open one, and particularly in New York it feels almost omnipresent.
As artists we are fascinated by these issues surrounding the body and the need to represent the tactile andfor lack of a better wordreal experience of sex. On TV, in movies, on billboards, and the Internet, mere imagesfictitious versions of sexuality harass us with their removed, cold depiction of sex.
We are in need of a messy, sloppy, cummy, representation of what sex is really like. Viscosity relates to fluidity, thickness, tension, and stress. This show explores the texture of sex along with the emotional experience through materiality.
Monica Bernals ink paintings reference the biological, physical and chemical, as she explores the relationship between fluidity and sexuality. The paintings of Rehan Bashir delve into the visceral, the pleasurable, and the beauty of abuse. The drippy collage-inspired oil-covered canvases by Logan Sibrel touch on memories of intimacy through his narrative compositions. Casey Diskin approaches the subject of sex through a reorganization of his gaze, also playing with memory. Rayna Savrosas photographic montages and video installations are based on the role of new technologies and their impact on human relationships.
These emerging artists are all MFA graduate students in the Fine Arts Department at Parsons The New School for Design.
PLEASE JOIN US APRIL 22ND FOR THE OPENING OF THIS SEXHIBITION!

"GET ON THE BUS"
CitySpace, San Francisco, CA
June 16th - July 2nd 2006
OPENS June 16th at 2255 Third Street
From June 16th to July 2nd, 2006 CITY|SPACE will present "Get on the Bus," a reconsideration of the experience, culture, and meaning of our nation's least-loved transit mode. Stigmatized as the transit of last resort-the realm of the poor, elderly, and infirm-the bus nonetheless moves millions of people every day. On the cutting edge in some cities, marginalized in others, the bus evokes a surprising range of emotions for people, planners, cities and artists. Get on the Bus will begin to illuminate the world of the bus as a ubiquitous but neglected arena of city life.
