Rayna Savrosa (b. 1984, San Francisco) is a blossoming young artist living and working in Brooklyn. She studied photography at Parsons the New School for Design where she received her B.F.A in 2007. Shortly after graduating, she crawled back and received her M.F.A. in 2010 from the Parsons Fine Arts program.
Her photographic works are based on excess, overindulgence, decline, and destructionof the self and of society. Her video works are also explorations of dystopia. These newer works consist of appropriated film footage from movies and scenes from television.
She is also currently working on an ongoing project that explores drinking culture. The series, called "American Binge", follows friends and strangers into the night as she investigates one of her nations favorite pastimesand also its drug of choice.
She is in the process of expanding this project, investigating the same themes in Beijing where she is a currently participating in an artist residency at Red Gate Gallery.
